This Thursday Movie Picks is special because I’m writing it in an unexpected location – USA! To celebrate my short 5-day trip and the fact that I’m blogging far away from home I wanted to keep this post very American. So this theme actually works out perfectly because what meal is more American than Thanksgiving dinner!? I can’t think of any so here are three recommendations featuring the beloved Thanksgiving dinner.
1. THE OBJECT OF MY AFFECTION (1998)
I mean.. it has Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston – what more do you want? While the movie focuses on much more than just Thanksgiving, it does have the element there. Or at least that’s what I remember? I mean they were having dinner at some point and it was over Thanksgiving, right? I’m not imagining it? I guess this is a very bad start, I’m sorry but I’m writing this at the airport, on my way to Dallas, and I’m distracted. Anyway, good movie, Rudd is precious and amazing. And he dances!
2. SWEET NOVEMBER (2001)
Again my brain is remembering a Thangsiving scene in Sweet November. I’m also counting on the fact that the title refers to November aka the month of Thanksgiving. Even if not, well, I know for a fact that it has food.. and a meal, and Keanu Reeves. Reeves is a meal himself so this movie ticks many boxes at once. It’s also sad so I don’t recommend watching it if you’re not in the mood to sob your eyes out. I made the mistake of doing so and I sort of regret it. Unexpected tears are the worst.
3. THE BLIND SIDE
While I do not think of this as one of my favourites and I hardly remember it, I don’t think you can get more American than The Blind Side. There’s football, there’s family values, there’s southern charm and there’s a homemade Thanksgiving dinner. While this movie won an Oscar (I have no idea why but looking at the other options, I mean, it seemed like a very thin year?) Anyway, can’t get more American so here you have it. The Blind Side to complete the list of three recommendations I wrote down while in America.

oh Sweet November is so sad but at least she got to do it with Keanu 😛
I’ve seen all…not that I remember much of any anymore. Of the three I like The Object of My Affection best.
