I almost forgot todays post so this one is going to be a quick one. Luckily I thought about this theme last weekend and figured out two of my picks real quick. The third one was rather easy too because for one very memorable performance. But I especially love the actresses playing themselves part I picked here. Anyway I’m sure there are more roles where actors and actresses play themselves but these were the ones that popped into my mind first.
3. MICHAEL CERA in THIS IS THE END (2014)
This movie is something that stays with you even if you just see it once. I have yet to rewatch it and I can still remember so much of it. One of those memorable things is Michael Cera playing himself… or I guess a version of himself. It works so well! Not just because he puts out such a nerdy vibe and in This is the End he is almost the opposite of that. But also kinda a believable vibe. I can’t describe it. Anyway, I love it!
2. & 1. JULIA ROBERTS and BRUCE WILLIS in OCEAN’S TWELVE (2004)
Behold!!! My favourite scene where an actor and an actress play themselves. One of them plays an even more complicated version of themselves. So basically an actresses playing themselves through a character they are playing. So clever! This is not just amazing in terms of acting but writing in general. The way Ocean’s Twelve comes up with it and just plays it off as such is great writing! I love everything about this, I just love it. When me and my mom watched it for the first time she was so surprised and happy about this twist too. Like the joy of tricking the audience like that, to blend reality with fantasy… I LOVE IT!

We match with Julia Roberts! But I forgot about Bruce Willis 🙈
But… he is right there?! 😀
I just love that Michael Cera played such a douche in that movie when he so clearly isn’t in real life!
It worked so well, definitely one of the more memorable things about This is the End.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched the Oceans movies properly…I’ve only seen bits here and there when they show on TV.
I love your picks! I had completely forgotten before this week that Julia Roberts pretended to be herself at some point in the movie though.
