This theme required a bit of work because I didn’t want to go into the blockbuster territory with my recommendations. But because I’m so unaware in regards to what’s coming out otherwise, I had to look for answers. In other words, I researched for movies for this post. And I truly wanted to look forward to movies other than Marvel.
Also, what a bitter sweet moment – this is the last movie related Thursday Movie Picks of 2018! I’ve been on time (I think I missed one Thursday, and posted it on Friday instead), and kept up the entire year! Yaaas! And I’m for sure keeping it up in 2019!
1. THE INFORMER, March 22nd
This is a no brainer for me because this movie has Joel Kinnaman and Rosamund Pike. Plus, the plot seems so intriguing. The Informer is about a criminal, who becomes an informer, but suddenly things get a lot more complicated. There is a slight chance that it might not work out, but that’s just because I’m not very familiar with the writers nor the director.
2. THE BEST OF ENEMIES, April 5th
Did you really think, for a second, that I was not going to mention an upcoming Sam Rockwell movie? Well, if you did, you guessed wrong because here’s one that looks really good! The Best of Enemies is based on a true story of two unlikely people becoming friends. Sam seems wonderful in this but that’s because he’s always wonderful. And to be honest, I’m looking forward to this more than Vice but that’s probably because Sam has a bigger role in this.
3. THE GOLDFINCH, October 11th
This is an adaptation of Donna Tartt’s book by the same name which I liked a lot. It spans through many years and it has an interesting plot involving a painting. It does have Ansel Elgort in it, which is a bit disappointing but it also has Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wolfhard, Denis O’Hare and Luke Wilson. Plus, it’s directed by Brooklyn’s director John Crowley – so I hope the good outweighs the bad.

I went the Blockbuster route with this. I lol’d at how you described The Gold Finch, that feels like something I’d say. “Ansel Elgort is disappoint but..” That’s how I feel about him too.
I think that’s everyone feels about Ansel Elgort. 😀
The Best of Enemies I wouldn’t miss for the world 🙂
Same!
Oooh. Some choices I haven’t heard of. I really liked Brooklyn so I would wanna check out the director’s next project. The Best of Enemies also sounds interesting
I was also very interested in the movie because of the Brooklyn director. Brooklyn was just so good!
Oh boy I’m out of the loop, I haven’t heard of any of these. The Informer sounds like something Ii definitely want to see!
I hadn’t either, it needed some searching but I’m glad to point them out for you! 😉
