Not necessarily leaving it to the last minute but sort of. (I really need to start planning these things ahead of time). So I was a bit stumped by this theme this week because honestly, I’m not very sure how many amateur sleuths movies I know. Probably more that I can think of but apparently not enough to conjure a proper list. Because of this today’s list will be about bad amateur sleuths movies. In other words I’m recommending you stay away from these amateur sleuths if possible. Needless to say all the main characters are amateur sleuthing.
Usually I don’t struggle with Television Editions as much as I have this year. Not that the themes are bad, they are absolutely wonderful! But they simply fall into the category of me not having any experience with them. So, instead of bringing you three I have seen, I’m putting together a to-be-continued-list. Having seen most or majority of the original shows, I’m bringing out three revivals that I want to see. Despite me being extremely hesitant about revivals *cough* Gilmore Girls *cough* due to their ability to ruin everything.
Another week of me trying to figure out my recommendations before giving up. You see, for me these very specific themes always are the hardest because I really haven’t seen that many films. With my no-double-recommendations rule as well, it sometimes sort of narrows me to a very tight squeeze. Like this week with the private eye theme. Anyway, that is the reason today’s post is like an uphill journey. Starts with the bad, ends with the good.
Ever since I’ve been following Maria over at Big City Bookworm, I’ve been amazed at her skill to participate in multiple tag posts a week. I mean, I can hardly keep track of one (Thursday Movie Picks) let alone two/three per week! Anyway, Maria is awesome, which is one of the points I wanted to make, the other is that ever since I started reading her Top 10 Tuesdays, weekly tag created by The Broke and the Bookish, I’ve wanted to participate but I never really jumped for it… until today! Who knows if I’ll post for Top 10 Tuesday every week but I’ll try my best, especially since I’m clearly not writing any reviews lately.
As promised on Monday, this Veronica Mars week will end with the not-so-positive movie review and hopefully by now all of you hardcore Marshmallows understand that this review I’m about to write doesn’t come lightly to me. I loved the series, I adore Kristen Bell and I’m super happy about the fact that Rob Thomas made this movie with the fans and for the fans but all of that aside, Veronica Mars (Bell) just didn’t have that kick she had 10 years ago!
This will be the last Veronica Mars list this week because the review of the movie goes up on Sunday. That being said, this has been an interesting week for me and who knows, maybe I’ll do similar weekly TV-show appreciation posts some time in the future. I can think of many shows I could write about tons and would love to gush about but let’s get back to the topic at hand, here are my 10 things I love about Veronica Mars (in no particular order)!
The idea was to list Top 10 characters but considering the main characters would’ve taken over the entire list, I figured I’d go with the Top 5 minor characters instead. Besides, it’s pretty obvious my favorite would be Veronica and/or Logan, because it’s hard to choose between them, followed by Weevil and Wallace and so on. Plus, it turned out better than expected because it was a lot easier to list and rank the minor and yet memorable characters!
This will be the Veronica Mars week! I decided on this today because I love Veronica Mars and why not dedicate a whole week to her? Also, I figured the best way to ease the not-so-positive Veronica Mars (2014) movie review, coming at the end of the week, is to show my eternal love for the show! Best way to do so is to make lists and well, there are a couple of lists coming this week and I’m not even sorry. So get ready to look back with me while I rejoice and celebrate the crime solving Veronica Mars who made me feel all kinds of happy for three years.
Every now and then a show comes a long that you really really like and then THEY take it away from you! I don’t exactly know who they are, probably the suits somewhere in the room who never actually watch the show but just follow the numbers which tend to be reflected wrongly onto paper in various cases. Some shows have high marks yet they still were cancelled or just simply not picked up again. And for a TV-show fanatic, this is absolutely frustrating, I know the feeling oh too well and when my friend recommended me to make a list about it, I thought, excellent idea! Since it isn’t a competition of which show that ended too soon is better than the other, the list is put up randomly.
PS: Next week, a list of “TV-shows that should have ended already” is also on its way.
This time I will list my favorite leading female characters because I managed to finish this list before the supporting list of males I consider as best – basically, I’m having trouble with my men. Totally opposite situation is taking place with the ladies, where I managed to write down a list three times faster and I’m surprisingly content how the final arrangement came out.
Yet again, there are no more than one character from one show present in this list because I wanna have a bit more variety than that. Addition to that, general theme of my favorite leading females seems to be humor or at least some form of comedic value. I tend to like my women funny as supposed to serious and dramatic. Some exceptions of course but as I look at my final lineup, I would say that 90% of the characters do have a funny bone in their body and that just happens to be a question of taste. But if you think of it, the leading male list had also a lot of funny guys as well!
