October wraps up with a halloween/television edition and I’ve really gone above and beyond for this. During this month I watched six new to me movies and now I’ve seen two new, one rewatched “mini-series” in the horror genre. Granted, two of these aren’t so horror after all but they are classified as such on IMDb. So this is more like a light halloween/television edition, horror elements but not scary-scary. Super proud of myself for seeing these shows because two of them were actually pretty good!
This the season to be merry – la-la la-la la-la-la or no, wait, it’s still October! Well that just means holiday horror movies it is. This week I’ve watched three new to me horror movies (I know, who am I?) and all of them were actually quite okay. The first one was a bit of a miss but the second two were fun. All of these fall into the horror comedy genre which means they are great also for actual holidays. Cause nothing brings joy more than a holiday horror movie where everyone dies.
Considering the fact that Horror Edition is yearly and takes up five weeks I should be more prepared, right? Well I don’t know how to prepare, apparently. So for this week I watched three fairly recent snow / winter related horror movies. One of them was not good, the other was garbage and the third hit the spot. Meaning instead of recommendations, come join me this week for three mini-reviews. Theme within a theme besides the snow / winter is the fact that all three have cool movie posters. Not to mention the mini reviews. That’s a whole new experience here on Thursday that might become more common here in October if I keep not watching enough horror movies during the year.
It’s another Halloween Edition time and this week we are looking into true stories! This will definitely be a hard week for me because being not so experienced with the horror genre I have limited choices. So I went with sort of a vague route. Here are three horror movies that have elements which are based on true stories. Some bigger, some smaller.
It seemed like yesterday we were getting ready for 2019 Halloween but here we are again. Thursday Movie Picks focuses on horror in October and first up are horror movie houses. Now this seems to me more like a deco recommendation than a movie one. I love that though! So I dug deep and tried to think of horror movie houses that are creepy as hell. Putting aside the movies almost completely. So here are three horror movie houses that I would love to stay away from!
Finally, the last Thursday of October is here and I can soon put this months’ horror adventures behind me. Like always, the last Thursday of the month is all about the television shows. The theme is simple, the point is straightforward – we are talking horror. And here are three shows that for me have been horrific but amazing. Oh and since I’ve been lazy lately, this one also has a theme within a theme because why the hell not. All three have something to do with zombies!
When I first sat down and saw rituals I thought I was going to grasp for straws here. But as I thought about it a little I realised I have quite a few gems to recommend. All three are decent horror movies but one is especially special among the mediocre. There are good performances, some satanic rituals and well, some pretty gnarly ones too. It’s no wonder rituals are mostly associated with horror movies.
Only two weeks to Halloween and I bet many of you are excited. I don’t necessarily get excited about it myself as it is not a trend here in Estonia but jump scares are! Not just in like every day situations but also in horror movies. So I’m looking back at movies I “watched” as a teen and probably got scarred for life because of them. Like, that’s the thing I still dislike about horror movies, those damn jumps. So here I am listing three that I remember oh so well!
It’s another horror related Thursday Movie Picks and this time it’s all about teens! Now, I think I’m slightly cheating with one of my horror picks as they main characters are more kids than teens but I’m too tired. Plus, I’ve yet again started to write this super late so it’s going to be a short one. Sorry, I just can’t seem to schedule these in advance EVER. Now I’m paying the horrific price.
Not even bothering with pictures today. That’s how exhausted I am.
This the season to be scary! Which is ironic since Halloween edition scares me a lot. Being quite new to the horror genre I’m sure I’ll start repeating myself with these movies. It’s inevitable, honestly. But this week, since horror is paired with period dramas, I’m pushed into a very tiny corner. So, I’m improvising. I’m bringing you three movies that have horror elements but are not all horror movies per-say. Also one is technically not even a period drama. All three have one common actress though so I guess that sort of makes up for it, yes?
