With my newly found desire to blog more often, I’ve decided to just go nuts and do things I haven’t done yet. Like trailer reactions because why not?! Starting off this new trend here on Mettel Ray is Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. A crime drama filled with so many big names and fan favourites that it’s hard to imagine not loving this film right off the bat.
The reason I added this 2005 film to my Blindspot list was simple. I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and have seen most of his films. With that in mind, I set myself a goal to watch his lesser known film Brick. The fact that it’s also the directorial debut for Rian Johnson, was simply a coincidence. Turns out, adding Brick was like getting hit by a brick.
Let me set the mood: it’s another Friday evening and instead of wasting it at home, brave little me went to the cinema all alone to see her boy kick some time travel ass. I was expecting sci-fi, romance and action (as it was promised to me by somebody I can’t remember) and after 10 minutes of commercials it began with a familiar voice reading the premises of the movie and I loved it already. To be fair, I’m a big sci-fi fan and I call Joseph Gordon-Levitt “my boy”, so it is difficult for me not to love Rian Johnson’s Looper to a point where I call it my favorite of the year.
