One of the hardest things for me, even after blogging for close to 10 years, is listing things. Listing movies in a particular order, naming favourite TV shows, putting performances in a certain row – just any kind of list and I’m hyperventilating. So instead I’m deluding the pressure by creating a non-list list. In other words, I’m going to talk about 10 movies that shaped me in the past 10 years. It’s a tribute to the movies that left an impression on me. Not necessarily about listing the best movies nor even the absolute favourites. It’s about 10 movies that changed me or gave me something to think about. Movies that pushed me or challenged me, that shaped me into the person I am today. Movies that, for better or worse, will stay with me forever.
That grand moment when rebooting a movie by re-telling the superhero origin story will pay off did not happen this time – fact! There maybe was hope but it was pointless to think that Fantastic Four with a fresh cast would elevate this particular franchise to new heights and bring some joy. If anything, I’m disappointed and sad that I even, for a brief moment in time, thought that maybe it will be good. Oh how wrong was I…

Let me start by saying that I did not enjoy Divergent nor Insurgent. In other words, I’ve now spent 258 minutes on this saga, which means I’ve wasted 258 minutes of my life on something completely unsatisfying. It would also be completely pointless if I didn’t run a movie blog where I could warn people to stay away from this one, or at least wait until it comes out on DVD so you wouldn’t have to suffer through its non-existent 3D effects.
When I thought about how my 2014 in Retrospect will eventually turn out, I figured there should be a special post for my favorite people as well. Just as there are many good movies and shows, there are also amazing actors and actresses whom I loved this year the most. Granted, many stood out at the end of the year where the movie brilliance peeked for 2014.
Here are 10 people that stood out for me in 2014 !

More than a week has passed since I witnessed one of the greatest battles I’ve seen in movies – a battle between a student, aspiring to be the best, and a teacher, bullying his way towards hearing perfection. There was tension, there was false hope, crushed dreams and crushed fingers, rude words, harsh words and fake kind words, unbelievably evil mockery and verbal abuse, just because there are no two words in the English language more harmful than “good job”!
