Talk about a perfect timing. Love, Victor came around during Pride month and was available to me during my vacation. I binged it in one sitting while puzzling in the yard (yes, I’m that b*tch). I loved the movie Love, Simon (review HERE) which this show is a spin-off for. So yes, I went in with certain expectations. Some were met, others not. Here are my thoughts on Love, Victor – a show that is not just about finding yourself but realising that others might be finding themselves as well.
I’m starting this week off by bringing you ten book to movie adaptations that I thought worked wonderfully. All these books are okay, some are actually very good, but others simply aren’t as strong. The point of the Top 10 list is that the movies were better than books. Yes, I love some adaptations a bit more than the books and that is rare. By the way, I’ve been reading less books lately, so if you have any recommendations to me (to get out of the reading slump) feel free to leave those in the comments!
Happy birthday to Mettel Ray! My blog-baby is 10 years old today and I couldn’t describe my emotions even if I tried. It’s definitely a special day! Which is why I decided, due to the special occasion, that instead of just celebrating my blogiversary on May 1st, I’d prolong the celebrations to last for 10 days. That’s right, you’re getting 10 days of Mettel Ray Top 10 lists. It will be all very random, just like me, and the topics will range from movies, shows, music, books etc. First up, probably the hardest list I had to compile because there are a lot of movies I rewatch… but here are 10 movies that I love to go back to every now and then.
Oh, how I’ve missed good, positive and uplifting teen movies! There was a hole in the market, and nobody seemed to be able to fill it. And now we have Love, Simon bringing all the feels! It’s just another teen comedy, but it’s the first of its kind. It is a gay love story that will make you mushy and emotional for all the right reasons!
Way back in February, when I had a lot of time on my hands, I wrapped up January like a champ. Then, I sort of forgot about it and now I’m bringing the wrap up back. In other words, I’m wrapping up the entire month of June – from movies to shows to books to songs! With a bit of commentary on each of the things I saw, read and listened, and links to possible reviews and such. So take a look at everything I experienced in June, and apparently, there was a lot!
Sitting down to write these weekly posts (sometimes cramping two or three weeks into one post, this time including an unpublished CB draft!), I always struggle to remember what I have been up to. Good thing I log almost everything into online platforms, such as Letterboxd and Goodreads. Now I only need to start keep track of my shows better, and I’m good to go. Anyway, here are two+two weeks worth of rambles.
Yes, it is Tuesday. Yes, I usually post Commercial Breaks on Monday but not this week. Partly because I totally overbooked myself on Monday and didn’t have time. Also because I didn’t have anything to write yesterday, but now I do!
Last week was another weird one for me. So it’s becoming evident that I’m not having the best time at the moment, and I’m graving for something special. Luckily, the universe has me covered! Sam Rockwell is an Oscar winner from this week forward – that’s my something special I’m starting this week with!
As mentioned last week, I sort of completely failed my reading challenge for this year, and I won’t be trying to do any TBR’s in the near future. That’s just not for me. But I do want to keep up with reading wrap ups and this one is the first of 2018. I didn’t read much, and my reading tempo has been on the slower side so far, but I’m keeping up and enjoying myself – which is all that matters.
The end is near with 2017 Thursday Movie Picks but have no fear, I will continue on in 2018 – there’s no doubt in that! There’s still one post left in the Television Edition next week, but this post marks the end for movie picks, so I thought I’d pick five instead of three to make it extra special. By the way, I’ve left out ALL the superhero movies because frankly, there are so many and I already know I’m going to watch them so, what’s the point in sharing them.
