I’m going to quote IMDb and say: “The big day is finally here!” but I don’t really care for all that buzz that’s going on. Firstly because it’s going to be pretty late (for me) when the show is on and I have never watched it live. Secondly, I can never say which actor deserves it better and which movie is worth more – I think you could say that I haven’t developed my award-sensitive nose yet. Despite all of that, I’m still going to list ALL nine Best Picture nominations in my Top 9 – some of it is based on ratings, but most of it highly based on my own subjective taste and opinions.
After watching so many movies nominated for Best Picture this year, it feels a bit weird to give them all the highest rating – movie after movie I’m like “POW” but I can’t help it, I love each one of them and obviously for different reasons. That being said, my love for Life is Pi is so different from others because it’s currently the only movie out of the nominated ones I’ve seen that is not afraid to go beyond realism and gently touch the edge of fantasy. There is something magical about it but it’s so subtle that in the end you don’t actually mind it and in the very end, you feel as if it was all justified for the purpose of the story itself.
As you can see, this is the beginning of a set of TOP 10’s that will appear until a new year will come along (today, tomorrow, 28th, 31st and January 1st) and everything starts all over again. To say at least, I’m very excited to end off this year and also welcome new beginnings: 2012 has been extremely amazing! To celebrate this occasion I decided to put together five lists of things that I missed, I loved, I loved some more, I reviewed and I managed to achieve with this blog. Are you excited? I am! So let’s begin and take this blog from 2012 to 2013 with a solid TOP 10 bang!
There has been a lack of trailer posts on my blog because I find them to be more news than blog posts. It’s just like a press statement and though I was a huge fan of trailers earlier on this blog the hype is slowly going away for me. What can one say about a trailer? It can of course list the actors, the director and the premier date but I have wanted more out of my trailer posts and now it seems I can achieve that with Life of Pi trailer.
