It feels like the only way I can tell the difference between weeks is thanks to Thursday Movie Picks. Days fall into one and the stress of the entire year and a month on top is truly getting to me now. Work is not easy at the moment either which is just an added stress on top. BUT that is not what we are talking about today, we are talking about psychological Thrillers! I for one am not the biggest fan of these movies but when one clicks I love it a lot. Psychological thriller isn’t just something I look out for on purpose though. Anyway, I thought of this theme and I figured I’d pick three movies without even looking at Google for help. So if they don’t really fit the theme… blame the stress. I’m sure it’s at fault somehow.
Ho-ho-ho, Merry Christmas! This feels like the most un-holiday-festive year since I can remember but let’s try to get past that. So grab your ginger bread cookies and a cup of hot chocolate and let’s bring some action into the holidays! Since 2020 went rogue on us this year I decided to go very rogue with this week’s theme. Let’s have a bit of fun, eh!? I mean who wants to see Die Hard mentioned in every list, right? So sit back and see what I came up with.
You know that feeling when something’s so perfect that you just hate it. Yeah, there’s a word for love and frustration all rolled in one – it’s “ugh”. And you know what usually makes me grind out that word, beards. Really good beards. Because no matter how closely I look, or how many times I inch towards that screen, that beard is not as close to me as it should. And yes, this is a lust post – enjoy!
It’s been another hot minute since the last time I took some time to take a Commercial Break. So let’s go over the events of the past month and see how many TV shows I have binged while trying to stay sane. Seriously, it’s been shows on top of shows for the past month.
Third month of 2020 has been crazy, to say at least but I’m not gonna let the world (read: this damn virus) bring me down! So today, as planned, I’m continuing with the Hidden Gems challenge. This month I watched three Jake Gyllenhaal movies and honestly… While everything else has been shit, this month was the best Hidden Gems month so far. Will it mean picking my first actual hidden gem? Well, you’ll find out soon.
One of the hardest things for me, even after blogging for close to 10 years, is listing things. Listing movies in a particular order, naming favourite TV shows, putting performances in a certain row – just any kind of list and I’m hyperventilating. So instead I’m deluding the pressure by creating a non-list list. In other words, I’m going to talk about 10 movies that shaped me in the past 10 years. It’s a tribute to the movies that left an impression on me. Not necessarily about listing the best movies nor even the absolute favourites. It’s about 10 movies that changed me or gave me something to think about. Movies that pushed me or challenged me, that shaped me into the person I am today. Movies that, for better or worse, will stay with me forever.
After failing miserably with the Blindspot series this year, I decided to create my own version of catching up. Because despite being quite bad with challenges I do love to take them on. So here’s one I created for myself that I hope not to fail – Hidden Gems.
I said before the movie was out, that if anyone was going to handle the emotional impact of Tony Stark’s death, it was Tom Holland. He can act and the guy can really pull on your emotional strings and drag your sorry ass into tears. Yet Spider-Man: Far From Home takes the easy way out. It tries to avoid the emotions and diverts us away from sadness with a more humour filled approach. Can’t say I’m mad about it but I’m not exactly thrilled either.
In 2017, I talked about beards. A year later, in 2018, I talked about Sam Rockwell’s beards. This year, in 2019, I turned 30 years old, and this means, it’s time to grow up. And what is more grown up than a mountain of man-butts?…
The always wonderful Margaret over at Cinematic Corner ranked her boos on Twitter ages ago. And of course that gave me the idea to rank my own. Because, let’s face it, this blog deserves some eye candy! So here it is, eye candy time! Based on my current mood and emotional state (fragile and hormonal), I’m ranking ten of my current actor baes.
