Even though most of this year has been about not expecting anything. And the end of 2020 slowly taking away all hope, I’m trying to stay positive even though everything seems awful and getting progressively worse. Anyway, as I said, despite of all this I’m gonna try and look forward. Towards recent movie trailers I have stumbled upon. So this is a very random post about a few recent movie trailers I’ve seen that made me excited about the movies.
Let me just sit here and contemplate on how wonderfully insightful a movie about aliens could be. How it could ask difficult questions, how it can educate and teach us about the importance of language and science without making it too futuristic. Let me just sit here for a moment before I manage to put Arrival into words that would perfectly reflect my state of awe.
When I went into Enemy, I knew a few things. I knew I was going to enjoy Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance, and I knew that I was going to see a very meaningful movie. I also knew it wouldn’t be easy to understand, and it would have hidden meanings. What I didn’t know, was that this movie is based on José Saramago’s novel, and that it has one of scariest jump scares I have ever encountered.
The word sicario means hitman in Spanish, and once you know this, you will gain the basic idea what Sicario is about. Maybe an exaggerated version of the reality, maybe a version of the reality we have not used to seeing but is existing out there – either way, Sicario will scare you and it will make you wonder how many bad men have done bad things and gotten away with it because the bad things are done to equally bad men.
