There is a pressure on sequels that can never be present during the first instalment of a franchise. The pressure to be equal or better than the first movie. The pressure to live up to the expectations based on the success of the first movie. Deadpool 2 had to follow up Deadpool, be better and funnier, and that is a lot of pressure. Even for a comic book character, who is able to break the 4th wall and survive pretty much everything. And sometimes that pressure becomes too much.
We start off the year with an Oscar race that has our hearts beating erratically because this might be Leonardo DiCaprio’s year, and it was. He won, he got that Oscar, he held that Oscar, he took that Oscar with him to show off to his supermodels and polish on his yacht while the sun cast golden streaks of light onto Leo’s face. But as soon as the blockbuster movies started to roll in, as soon as the superheros began to gather, Leo was slowly forgotten.
Only Deadpool could break a fourth wall inside of a fourth wall to achieve the ultimate level of awesomeness by breaking sixteen walls. And though it makes no sense, it doesn’t really matter, because I’m still sixteen levels of thrilled about Deadpool and the fact that its first installment won’t be the last.
It is never too early to anticipate. The only downside to anticipation, is the fact that sometimes anticipation builds up so much, that you might explode. Not to mention that the longer you anticipate, the more you expect and well, sometimes that expectation is not met by the movie. But let’s not think about the negative, instead, let me share these 40 movies that will be released in 2016, in this two part post, that I want to see for various reasons and most reasons are manly.
