Expectations are interesting. They can ruin a movie, they can elevate a movie and they can somehow alter the result of the movie drastically. They can even make you expect something completely different, usually based on the trailer, and then disappoint you greatly during the movie itself. For once though, my expectations didn’t really change the outcome, and I actually enjoyed Nerve just as much as I expected to.
I can sum up Now You See Me 2 with one word – disappointment. Disappointment that I didn’t like the movie, and that it’s such an unsuccessful attempt to recreate the appeal of the first movie. Most importantly, it’s that disappointment towards the writers, who clearly think I’m stupid.
Following the successful and hilarious Neighbors, the team of writers behind it prove that it is possible to create a sequel equally as great! Filled with dildo jokes, dirty dancing moves, a ton of weed and a man hug, Neighbors 2 is funny, sweet and again, a little crazy!
There’s something comforting about this comedic duo consisting of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. They just fit and I can almost feel their friendship oozing from their scenes, especially in 22 Jump Street but was it enough to make the sequel shine? For me, and that’s just my personal opinion!, I didn’t find the love for it, honestly, I actually struggled to like it.
The kind of house next door relationship Neighbors portrays is something I’ve never experienced and most likely won’t get the chance to. Though, having Zac Efron and Dave Franco living next door would be a dream come true, huge fake dildos and weed-parties included.
