hello

Hey, I’M BACK !!

Looking back, Summer 13′ was quite the experience for me, I made some great friends and worked about 550 hours in 3 months. Work and trying to explore Ireland, or at least get out from the hotel I worked in, took most of my time and therefore my blog was sadly a bit stranded. I didn’t plan it but I guess life does get in your way and I can’t promise this #temporary death will never happen again, I’ll just say that I’m now back in my element and hopefully you missed me enough to return to this blog.

So before I dig back into the movie world, I wanted to share my Ireland experience for those who might be interested.. and to be honest, I need to get my writing groove back and it seemed like the right topic to get those fingers typing.

  • Ireland is a gorgeous country as far as I know and I was lucky enough to live in county Mayo/Galway – mountains everywhere!
  • At first I was impressed by these huge and endless mountains but then I realized that the reason I had no cell reception in the hotel was mainly because of the mountains blocking the signal. Therefore me and the mountains had a complicated relationship.
  • Also, this one time this particular mountain pulled a Houdini and disappeared on us:

  • I already mentioned the fact that work pretty much stole most of my time: here’s a fun fact, I worked 5 times a week from 9.30 until 19 and I don’t know how you (people who work and blog) get anything done AFTER work. I was beyond tired and when I wasn’t, I didn’t really want to write.
  • Needless to say, I have gained a lot of respect for those movie bloggers who have regular jobs: you go, guys!
  • But I’m not complaining, my internship experience was grand and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Besides, one of the benefits of working in a spa, in addition to free massages (yes, I did score few of those), is the fact that I do have a lovely office:

  • Looking at these pictures I do get a bit emotional, I don’t necessarily miss the job, but I do miss the people and that’s what was so great about this summer, the people were amazing!
  • The fact that I made some friends kind of pushed me to be more social and active on my days off, which eventually led me to try out things I never thought I would. Things like riding a horse, archery, snorkeling, sea kayaking, surfing and coasteering.
  • I loved surfing and coasteering! And I loved my horse Jimmy who gave me a great ride:

  • The two times I visited Galway (a big city), were both bitter sweet – I enjoyed myself so much that I ended up spending too much money. In order to feel less guilty, rather saying that I was shopping, I’m going with – I was investing.
  • I also invested in cinema tickets and ended up seeing three movies: Despicable Me 2, This Is the End and We’re the Millers.
  • Two were actually really good, especially surprising was We’re the Millers but I’m still waiting for some much needed motivation to write a review about it.
  • In the beginning of the summer I barely watched any movies though, but eventually, especially in August, I found some extra time to see Warm Bodies (hated it), Red Dawn (enjoyed it) and What Maisie Knew (loved it).
  • When it comes to TV-shows.. well, I have to catch up with EVERYTHING except So You Think You Can Dance (the only reality TV I can stand), The Newsroom and Rookie Blue.
  • Now some more pictures to keep the visual flow:collection
  • I tried to keep up with Dexter and True Blood but I still have some episodes to see, even though I already know all about the Skarsgård dong and his short lived cliffhanger possible death.
  • Another thing I barely was able to keep up with was reading movie blogs. I did visit my favorites and took some time to read posts about things that spiked my interest but honestly, I was so bad this summer and I can’t even think about it. PS: I hate the fact that Google Reads is gone.. Everything is just a mess now.
  • To make things even worse, I literally read 0 pages of A Storm of Swords – so I still have no idea what happens after the Red Wedding!
  • To sum up my summer, I have no recollection of actual days or weeks when I did what, everything is simply one big pile of days. But I do remember that I had fun, a lot of fun and I already miss the people who made my Ireland experience to what it was – a little bit life changing and all in all a good craic!

PS: It feels great to be back!

  • Life always comes first Mettel! I’m glad your back and that you had a great time — it does seem like a good experience. Take as much time as you need to get your writing groove on, it’s summer so no one’s in a hurry anyway! I myself stopped blogging/watching movies and tv shows for most of august since I wasn’t home — it’s all good.

Only caught up with True Blood like two nights ago, so the Skarsgård affair was a total surprise!

    • It’s the first time my life gets in the way.. I usually live in the Internet you see. Trying to get back to that but I’m having some trouble.. I tend to get bored fast.

I still have to watch True Blood.. I’m trying to catch up with Teen Wolf though. It’s light and funny and a little bit exciting even.

  • Took me some time (fucking legal acts) but I’m finally here 🙂

BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, Ireland looks so amazing! Work is actually good, I don’t work and I’m so lost – I need to get up every day and find the motivation to stop looking at gifs of Mikkelsen and actually learn this legal bullshit. At least if I fail I’ll have to get a job and 8h in the office for which I’ll get paid sounds better than killing your soul for free on an odd chance you’ll actually pass 🙂

And the place you worked at looks absolutely heavenly. Just lovely.

You don’t know what happens after RW? Ohhh, you are in for a treat. The part of Storm of Swords after RW till the epilogue is the best part of the whole story. I’m so excited about next season, it will easily be the best one yet.

I liked We’re the Millers, I found the film to be average but at least it was entertaining. Offerman should be in every single comedy out there.

    • Hah! Glad to see you here!

And yes, working is helpful to pass the time, I’m actually 70% done with getting myself a half-time job but I also have to write my masters and MAN, I’m so low on motivation and everything .. same with the blog.. I’m back but.. not really.

Haven’t gotten to the book, bought a new book as well so.. I have a big pile of books and no motivation. Man, I need motivation. 😀

Been watching a lot of shows though, so I guess that’s something. And yes, We’re the Millers was a pleasant surprise and though I like Aniston, I’m sure even the ones who don’t, do have to say that her body is bangin’ !
