When it comes to posters, I’m usually bored out of my mind. They tend to be very similar, there is a common use of elements that reflect the genre, and they are, in so many ways, become generic.
Posters and promotional images are so important to a movie or a TV series. If trailers are there to provide us information about the movie, posters grab our attention, and guide us towards the trailer in the first place. Or at least, that’s what I think. I’ve already expressed my love for minimal/alternative posters, couple of times, so I thought why not do it again! So here are some alternative, and original posters, that stand out from the crowd.
Posters featured in this post: Suicide Squad, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars, Power Rangers, The Transfiguration, Independence Day Resurgance, The Woods, Mr. Robot, Now You See Me 2, The Martian, The Accountant, The Walking Dead, Preacher, Finding Dory, American Pastoral, Demolition, The Neon Demon, The Land, Queen of Earth.
I really love minimalist posters too and have a little collection of my own! My favorites on your list above are Finding Dory and Star Wars. Great post!!
I haven’t got any minimal posters in physical form, sadly. I would love some though, maybe, someday.
Love that Neon Demon poster!
I know, it’s amazing!
The Rogue One poster is gorgeous. I’m definitely going to need that one for my wall.
Indeed! For an official poster, that one is probably one of the coolest ones indeed. I think I will get that one on my wall as well!
I love a good minimalist poster too. I’d never seen that amazing second Rogue One poster so thanks.
Not sure if that one is definitely Rogue One, that’s why I linked Star Wars in general in the beginning, but I found it on IMDg so it should be official. 😀
I love posters like this. Out of the ones you chose, the beach Rogue One poster is my favorite because it’s so different compared to the other Star Wars posters.
I like it too! It’s the official one as well, and it stands out among all the other sci-fi posters.. so cool!
Awesome post! I love artistic/creative posters, too – I wish they went with that approach in official posters more often, not sure why they don’t. :/
