Here we go, I’m sharing my first attempt to stick to an actual TBR that I’ve decided on beforehand. It’s not something I’ve ever been good at, setting a specific reading goal for a month but it’s a new year and a new me! I hope I get to the end of the month with a smile on my face, and I hope I won’t be disappointing myself by not following through these TBR’s. But with no further ado, here’s my TBR pile for the month of January!
1. FANTASY – THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE by Katherine Arden
I’ve meant to pick this one up ever since I got it so I figured it would be a nice way to start of my year. Really hoping it won’t disappoint me and I’ll end up liking it. So far I’m a little weirded out by the usage of Russian names and phrases, because I’m not used to that but I hope I get over that threshold soon.
2. YOUNG ADULT – QUEENS OF GEEK by Jen Wilde
Another book in my shelf that has been sitting on my TBR pile for a while now and I don’t exactly know the reason why. I’ve only heard good things and why not pick it up this month. At the moment, I’ve already finished it but you can read my thoughts in my wrap up in February.
3. CONTEMPORARY – THE BEAUTIFUL DEAD by Belinda Bauer
Not hoping for the best thriller here but it was my last year’s favourite cover buy so I hope I will at least have fun reading it.
4. CLASSICS/NON-FICTION – TALKING AS FAST AS I CAN: FROM GILMORE GIRLS TO GILMORE GIRLS, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN by Lauren Graham
I would have picked this one up right after Gilmore Girls revival but the experience was so awful to me that I was put off by Gilmore Girls for a while. After marathoning the first two seasons in December it felt like the time to pick this one up. I’ve already finished it and I must say, it was a super quick read!
5. *WILDCARD* – ELANTRIS by Brandon Sanderson
This is my most biggest challenge this year, fitting all the Brandon Sanderson books in my TBR’s and finishing all of them. First up, Sanderson’s first book, and I already know I will be loving it as soon as I start! With the speed I’m reading at the moment, I’m not sure I’ll even make to it but one can still hope!
Next week, I post my 2017 reading wrap up – in other words, I list all the books I read in 2017!

I know (as you do too!) some people read more that but woman, five books a month is AMBITIOUS. I’m rooting for you. Let me know if Graham’s book is good! The title is too real 😂
And am I the only person who enjoyed the revival??! 😂
Graham’s book was okay, not like mind blowing but I sort of liked it.
I think you might be.. I hated it so much. 🙁
Good luck with your challenge!
I need it! So thank you so much! 🙂
I’ve picked up Graham’s book this month – I’m hoping it’ll be good. I also have your first two books on my TBR! Good luck!
Thank you! I will try my best but I’m already sort of failing. Ugh, I suck.
