Well… this month has been an embarrassment to say at least. I haven’t posted nor written as much as I would have liked to. I literally have written 0 reviews! None. I haven’t even tried. It’s bit of a shame really, since I really want to stay current but I guess it’s going to be a situation where I have to say “here’s a review of a movie I saw 3 months ago”. But hopefully I will get caught up soon, even though I also have to catch up with my reading because I’m slowly falling behind my challenge…

LIFE

Clearly I haven’t been myself lately and there are some things in my life that are affecting me more than usual. I’ve tried to write a few times but while I have ideas, and things to write about, the motivation simply isn’t there. But at least I’m keeping up with Thursday Movie Picks posts which is, for me, an achievement on its own. I have this weekend off though, and no plans, so I guess I will try to write and schedule as many posts as I can. And finish at least two to three books this week – it’s not that crazy of a challenge considering one of them will be a reread!

On other news, I’ve gotten a new tattoo. Well actually two bees on my arm, and my sleeve is starting to take shape. I already have an idea what the background could be and now I’m just looking for inspiration for other elements. I do have a small tattoo planned on the 7th already so by this rate I’ll have a full sleeve in a few years for sure. By the way, the bees have purple and yellow in them so I’ve now officially gotten colourful tattoos – never thought that would happen but here we are.

Last Monday me and my flatmate went to Finland for two days which was a nice change of pace. I got new boots for fall and a weird quirky dress-shirt thing. Plus, new bedsheets which I introduced on my bookstagram account already. Today I’m heading to the movie quiz event, and hopefully this year I can take part in more than two quizzes!

MOVIES

Movie wise I’ve seen two movies I really wanted to see this year and I ended up not loving either of them. First I saw American Assassin with Dylan O’Brien and while I did enjoy it, it wasn’t the best. But I do love Dylan and he’s like that new up and coming actor who I root for no matter what, so I’m still hoping this will be a franchise for him despite the shaky start. I’m sure I’ll write a post about it but I’m contemplating on writing something different… not a review exactly but something.

Then I saw Kingsman: The Golden CircleΒ and ended up not liking it as much as the first one. Honestly, I think it was a very uninspired sequel to a movie that probably shocked most of us. It lacked that originality because the first movie already introduced us to its style, and the sequel needed to have something extra – but it didn’t. What it had was a weak plot (with small moments of hope) and a whole lot of pointless killing which made me rethink my love for Kingsman. Taron was fabulous though and the opening scene was amazing – it was simply down hill from there. Review up soon, I hope!

TV SHOWS

TV wise I’ve actually seen something.. but both are reality television shows so I guess it’s not that interesting. But I’m watching Project Runway again which I didn’t tune in for last season because there wasn’t anyone who I wanted to root for. And I’m watching The X Factor UK this year, like every year, because I love that damn show so much and I can’t quit even if I wanted to.

In October, if I get my reading in check, I’m probably going to catch up with Narcos. Apparently it is narrated by Boyd Holbrook and he has an amazing voice. Plus, I was promised a butt-shot and I’m all for those.. since The Beguiled didn’t deliver any! Still super pissed about that.

There could be new shows out there this time during the year but I have no idea what’s happening. I haven’t been this unaware about television for years. I guess I’ve changed. I’m now more aware of books than shows – what a weird and unexpected development.

TRAILER

THE PUNISHER is going to be epic and I can’t wait for anything else so I’m just sitting here and waiting for Frank Castle to arrive and all to be good again. I haven’t watched any of the other Marvel Netflix shows since Daredevil Season 2 and I’m not gonna, I’m going to stick what I love and that’s Frank Castle. Not even going to try and watch Luke Cage, Iron Fist nor Defenders.

BOOKS & MUSIC

In terms of books, I’ve been reading more but falling behind at the same time because I pick up heavier books rather than easy reads. Recently I just finished Tower of Dawn which was the 6th book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and it was pretty good. Not my favourite but a decent read. Now I’m reading The Queen of the Tearling which is interesting and I’m hoping to pick up the other two books in the trilogy this year as well. But after I finish a few easier reads because otherwise I won’t finish 70 books this year. With that pressure, I’m already sure I won’t raise my challenge for next year but will go back to 50 books in 2018 and allow myself to read the massive amount of high fantasy books I have on my shelf that require more time and effort.

Music has been a bit absent in my life this month but I’ve been loving Niall Horan’s new song Too Much to Ask. And to be honest, I’m quite excited for his debut album as well. It’s coming in October and even though it’s not my usual go-to music style, I have a soft spot for One Direction guys.. three of them actually and I’ll let you guess which ones.

  • Ahh I’m so very jealous of your new tattoos! I would love to have a sleeve at some point in the future πŸ™‚
Don’t ever feel guilty about not posting very often!
Oh and thanks for the link <3

  • The butt shot is amazing and he leaps out of bed to grab a gun. That’s where the show went from good to awesome. Also Pedro keeps wearying really tight jeans.

  • I’m so sad Kingsman didn’t deliver, when I saw one star reviews I was SHOCKED. The first one was so fun, it’s a shame.

Three books and a ton of posts? Of course it’s hard!! Ooooh are you going to show your tattoos??? And I saw the new sheets, very cool. You know your bookstagram is already recognizable, I totally know it’s one of your pictures when it pops on my feed πŸ˜€

  • I meant to see Kingsman: The Golden Circle last night and unfortunately my plans fell through, but now I’m a little sad that it didn’t quite live up to expectations! I’ll still give it a shot though! Hopefully I can make it out to see it soon!

While the beginning of the month started out strong for me, I also fell into a bit of a blogging slump about halfway through. I have a few reviews that need to be written that are sitting in my draft and I just have no motivation to write them at the moment. Hopefully we can both get out of our slumps soon!

And as always, thank you for linking to my review of The Lodgers! πŸ˜€

  • Thanks for the link! <3
I'm looking forward to your post on American Assassin! I just got the first Maze Runner book in the mail because I liked Dylan in the movie so much. I hope everything continues to work out for him.
JON BERNTHAAAAAALLL. The Punisher looks amazing!!! I like Jessica and Luke on their own, but I'm not in a rush to get to Defenders. I still have to watch Daredevil season two.
