It’s been another two weeks of summer since I last wrapped up my week. And I honestly can’t remember what I have been doing. There has been a lot of work and reading happening. I’ve also binged a show. But mostly, it’s just me suffering the heatwave that is happening here in Estonia. While counting the days until my vacation starts – this Friday!

Across the Universe podcast has taken a small hiatus from episodes because it’s summer. It wasn’t planned, but I guess it was inevitable. We still haven’t posted our Ocean’s 8 episode and we haven’t recorded our next one either (it will happen tomorrow!). But if you’ve missed our voices, you can head over to LAMBcast! Me and Sofia both have made our appearances there. Sofia discussed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom  here, and I  compiled a list of my Top 3 Favourite Childhood movies. You can look out for it here! It took me a while to get the hang of things because I sounded so rusty and awful in the beginning.. I apologise. But once I got talking, I got a bit better at it. Yet, this reminds me, I need to start practising more. Podcasting isn’t as easy as it seems. I mean, you can’t really edit your thoughts once they come out of your mouth!

My July has been a slow month in terms of blogging. It’s too hot to function so I’ve been forcing myself to write but with no success. I will try to schedule all the Thursday Movie Picks before my vacation starts, and I will have a few reviews that I need to publish but I’m pretty sure this will be the last Commercial Break before the end of August.

Taking breaks is never my ideal way of doing things but I feel like I need it. And it’s not necessarily a break since I’ll be still uploading every Thursday. And who knows, maybe I’ll manage to finish up all the drafted reviews I have, there are way too many!

I did try to write some fiction yesterday, and today as well, so I’m slowly pushing my boundaries. It’s been many many years since I did some creative writing, and I’ve actually missed it. Currently my writing is not good nor is it very fluid, but I’m guessing the first drafts always feel shaky and not the best. It’s now important to me not to go over that writing and correct it instead of writing, because that’s my biggest flaw.

For the last two weeks I haven’t seen many movies. I watched Ant-Man and the Wasp, which I enjoyed and will review as soon as possible. I also rewatched the extended version of Avatar, which I still enjoyed. And that’s it. Which is probably good because I don’t need to see more movies that I need to review.

Now, another thing I haven’t been doing much is watching shows. The only show I’ve watched is Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which I just started. I’ve already finished season 1, and I’m a few episodes into the second season. It’s my first time watching this show and I must admit, I like it a lot! But I’m glad that I waited so long to finally watch it because now I have a lot more to binge than I would have years ago. Binging comedies is more or less my favourite thing.

Books wise I’ve done lousy as well, since I only finished four books since the last time I posted a Commercial Break. And one of them was a poetry collection, so it was a super fast read. Though I am disappointed in my reading, I’m still 9 books ahead of my challenge so, I can’t complain that much.

I read Mariana Zapata’s Rhythm, Chord & Maykhin, which wasn’t my favourite of hers but it was a very funny read. Then I picked up Alessandra Torre’s Love in Lingerie and it was awful! After I finished it, I realised it was my second Torre book, and I hated the first one, Girl on 6E a lot too, so now I’m staying away from her books.

Third book was a poetry collection by Amanda Lovelace called The Princess Saves Herself in This One, and it was a pretty good read. I think I like milk & honey more, but it’s a close second for sure. Last but not least, I reread To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, because the movie is coming out soon and I wanted to have the story fresh in my mind.

The song that has been on repeat all week is Jaden Smith’s Icon?, the extended version. It’s so smooth and mellow, I love it!

    • You’re welcome!
I’m not a huge fan of this awfully hot summer either. And I’m actually going to Corfu, Greece where it’s even hotter in a few days. Why do I hate myself?

  • OH I’ve picked up Love in Lingerie about a year ago, my god it AWFUL, yeah 😂 I can’t believe we only get Ant-Man and the Wasp on August 15th, it makes no sense.
