Just when I thought I was out of the hole, I get dragged back into the dark pit of fangirling. In other words, while trying to get everything ready before the deadlines dropped, the girls on Twitter kindly shoved Chris Evans into my face. Not that I mind, it’s just… it’s distracting, that’s what it is. Painfully and annoyingly distracting, just like that image abo…
…where was I? Oh right, Chris Evan is distracting but I already knew that. I just had managed to keep my focus on other things, because fangirling is hard work and I don’t have enough time. You all know how out of hand it got in January with Sam. Oh Sam, how I miss him! I will try to catch up with him again soon. I just need to get my shit together, and stop binging on Netflix!
Last week I worked a lot, then had to make two deadlines. One I’ll mention soon, the other was translating two episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It’s just a quick additional work (yeah, as if I’m not working enough), and I will try to do it again. It is fun, a bit frustrating at times but still a great challenge. Plus, it allows me to use my native language more, which I need to do, because I’m rubbish in written Estonian.
Went out on Friday as well, dancing. It was fun, stayed up really late and messed up my sleeping schedule again. Probably won’t get it back soon either because I have three late shifts this week. Anyway, I’m going to binge on my obsessions this week (Sam and Chris), get some reading done (Little Fires Everywhere) and not stress about the stressful things.
Across the Universe Podcast, as you might have noticed, is on a little timeout. We will be back soon, I promise, but meanwhile, go listen to my very first podcast episode with Sofia and Nik. It’s about Marvel, so fitting to go along with this new Chris Evans obsession of mine.
I mentioned before that I had two deadlines, well the second was watching all four Indiana Jones movies for The LAMBcast recording. Yes, I’m participating again, but no worries, I wasn’t very talkative this time. It’s hard to talk among huge fans of the franchise, and even though I do like some Indiana Jones, it’s still not my favourite thing in the world (don’t hate me). But yeah, the next episode for that will be up soon.
No surprise here, but I saw all four Indiana Jones movies last week. First one was good, second one was not as good, third one is my favourite and the fourth is horrible. In between the third and the fourth I rewatched Captain America: The First Avenger. Man, I love that movie. Not as much as The Winter Soldier (which I will watch this week), but that first chase scene as Cap – yummy. Since I’ll be seeing Infinity War on the 25th, I don’t think I will be able to rewatch all the movies. But… I could try? No. I’ll just rewatch all Cap’s movies and maybe the first Avengers movie.
BUT I also saw A Quiet Place on Friday and it was great! Already started with my review, and it’s unfinished version is already way too long. I have many thoughts, and while I do think it’s not perfect, it’s still very good! The review will be up either Wednesday or Saturday, depends how quick I’ll manage to edit it.
This weekend I might see Blockers as well. Heard good things and I’m always up for a good comedy, even though it’s the genre I’m most critical about. There is also something about John Cena that I actually enjoy. He has always surprised me so I’m excited to see what he can do with a bigger, more prominent role.
Can’t believe this but I actually didn’t watch TV shows last week. I’m also a little behind with The Good Fight and The Good Doctor. Plus, I haven’t really been watching UnReal either. Though with the last one, binge watching feels more suitable anyway.
But, there is this new show coming with Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer called Killing Eve and it looks strange yet thrilling. It has a female driven plot with assassins – I’m in. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.
Honestly, I have been so shit with reading this year that it’s actually stressing me out. There are about three books I have started, but none of them have kept me interested enough to finish them. It’s not that I keep picking up bad books, it’s just that I keep getting distracted by TV shows and Chris Evans or Sam Rockwell or who ever digs a hole for me. I will finish Little Fires Everywhere this week though! Mark my words!
Yes, I’m very late to the Shawn Mendes train but I’m always behind with things. In Your BloodΒ is one of his newest song, and I love it! I had it on repeat for an entire week and this week won’t be an exception. Also, Shawn was on Hot Ones few weeks ago and it’s pure gold!

A Film a Day writes about A Quiet Place
You’re not alone! I write, read and watch stuff in English all the time and sometimes I don’t even remember how to say things in Italian haha
I saw the Indian Jones movies years ago. I don’t remember much about them but I wasn’t crazy about the first one, that I remember.
A Quiet Place was amazing. It’s not perfect but it comes pretty close. Thanks for linking my review!
PS have fun fangirling!
Exactly? Reading I think is the worst, I can’t pick up a book in Estonian for the life of me… it’s actually scaring me a little.
Good to hear I’m not the only one, I felt very left out in the group since all were huge fans. π
I know, not perfect, but very close. I could nitpick it a bit and I will but I still love it.
I saw a gif of Ryan while looking gifs of Chris, and was like “Oh, the memories.” lol I haven’t entirely moved on, but all the fangirling I did feels like ions ago. Chris is a very good distraction until Ryan’s next movie comes out.
I haven’t done too well reading this year so far too. I’m stuck on one book and don’t find the time to read. So I’m hoping to change that soon.
Can’t wait to read your review of A Quiet Place! Love Shawn Mendez’s new song too. Congrats on the podcasts! Thanks for the link!
Hah, hey, you can double dip with fangirling!
What book are you stuck on? Sometimes it helps to pick up another book. Sometimes nothing helps. π
I will hope to get it up on Saturday the latest, I have a few things I need to do today and tomorrow.
Thanks for the good words! π
I’m stuck on The Happiness Project that I keep posting about on Instagram…and honestly, it’s not making me too happy. lol I’ll be picking up another book ASAP. π
Thank you for the link and that Evans gif what the fuck oh lawd.
I just came back from A Quiet Place and i liked the execution but I did not like the script. So many holes (not like our hole) and convenient stuff. It’s a good movie but the praise is baffling to me.
lol “girls on twitter”.What’s next? “mild infatuation”? “appropriate classy remarks”? π
You’re welcome!
It does have it’s weaknesses, but I think the plot holes aren’t that.. troublesome for me. My review at this point is so long, and I haven’t even talked about the plot.
“Appropriate classy remarks,” that’s the term I was looking for! π
I’d like to believe that there’s only 3 Indiana Jones films. The fourth one is something I wish never existed.
I heard that scene of Hayley Atwell touching Chris Evans was improvised accidentally and she didn’t mean to do it but the director kept that take and used it. I love that moment.
I think that’s what a lot are thinking, but hey, there’s a fifth one coming too so is it the fourth one for you? Or will you still be at solid 3? We’ll see!
Mario, here.
I am fascinated by these tidbits about your work. What is it that you do exactly? And can I move there and do it with you. Teaching used to be an honorable profession. Now it’s an utter shit show.
I’m stoked that you liked A Quiet Place. Despite what we’ve already discussed, I had a blast with this one. JK seems like a good dude, and I’m beyond excited that he’s hit it big with this one. I DO NOT want a sequel…but I guess it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Did we ever end up on the Lambcast together? I’ve done it a few times…and I always feel I’m in over my head. With the people I know, I’m Movie Guy. I get on with Jay and the gang…unfunny, illiterate d–khead. I enjoy it, but man….I don’t know anything.
You get Avengers on the 25th???? I’m totally jealous.
Ha, Mario.. still makes me smile.
Oh no, you don’t want my “day-job” which is a shift manager at a restaurant. The translating thing was extra work I did for a friend. π
I don’t want a sequel either but I would love another movie in the same universe, like Cloverfield movies. Would that count as a sequel?
I’ve only been twice now, but I will be in one more I think.. which I’m very very nervous about and probably will be shit but hey, it’s all for good fun, right! It would be awesome if we could be in the same episode, talk to Jay, bribe him, make it happen! π
YEAH! You thought that moving up the world wide release to the 27th would keep Europe on the same date? No sir. Official release is indeed 27th, but we always get these fan-screenings a few days before! MUHAHAHAHAHA!
I so, so so want to see A Quiet Place but I’m such a wuss! I’m hoping Blockers is decent too – I haven’t seen a good comedy for a while!
I hope you get to see it because it’s not that scary actually…
