Even though most of this year has been about not expecting anything. And the end of 2020 slowly taking away all hope, I’m trying to stay positive even though everything seems awful and getting progressively worse. Anyway, as I said, despite of all this I’m gonna try and look forward. Towards recent movie trailers I have stumbled upon. So this is a very random post about a few recent movie trailers I’ve seen that made me excited about the movies.
Thanks to Disney I finally got to see Hamilton. Living in Europe sometimes has its perks but it also means missing out on Broadway. Though I’m not a huge fan of musicals, in recent years, Hamilton caught my attention and I really wanted to see it. Over the years I heard some songs but out of context, without the stage, the actors and the actual musical numbers, the songs didn’t really have meaning. Now after seeing Hamilton with my own two eyes (twice already) I finally understand the hype. Here are my five favourite songs from Hamilton.
I’m very particular with my music. I tend to listen to mainly the same artists on rotation and it’s only recently that I’ve stuck to certain artists longer than six months. One of those is of course Dermot Kennedy (who I saw live in December and I just cannot express how happy it made me), and the other is Harry Styles. There are others as well of course but those are sort of the two British guys I’ve been listening to a lot. So much so that I have bought their vinyls. Yes, I got both Harry Styles’ albums on vinyl during the corona pandemic. Will be eating grass soon but hey, it was totally worth it!
Well, how about these eventful times, eh? Anyone feeling anxious, panicked, worried – well, you’re definitely not alone. The corona pandemic has made its way to almost every country. Including mine, Estonia, which is super tiny with only 1,3 million people and has already over 200 infected (as we know of). Statistically we are not doing so great. Thankfully I have the option to work from home but I can just imagine how stressful it is for those who can’t go to work right now. Sending you all the best and let’s just stay healthy and get this virus contained! In the light of these events and being stuck at home for a while (as if I don’t do that on a regular basis), I decided to share my current favourite HBO shows. Everyone’s been loving on Netflix but HBO deserves some love too!
Recently I discovered that I have been enjoying quite a lot of theme songs. Like, enjoying to a point where I don’t even fast forward the opening credits because I want to hear the song. So I wanted to share them with you guys. Which, ironically, makes this week very music oriented with Thursday Movie Picks focusing on unforgettable film scores. Anyway, here are five TV-show theme songs I’ve recently enjoyed and loved!
In a surprising turn of events, I’m listing my top 5 favourite characters from the Netflix show Elite. It’s surprising because I didn’t think I’d end up liking this show this much after the first season. Then, even though the second season had some problems, I finished Elite on a high. There’s one particular reason I’m now completely hooked on this show but it’s sort of a spoiler (I’m sorry). Oh, and Elite is in Spanish, so you know it’s special when your girl starts reading subtitles!
It’s finally time for my first Stranger Things related post this summer. First, before I get to my lengthy season 3 review, I’m bringing you my five favourite episodes from the show so far. So all three seasons are a fair game but I’m picking just five – so you can imagine how difficult this actually was! Like, I really had to crack my brain to narrow it down to five. But I did it and here is a chronological list of my five favourite episodes from all three Stranger Things seasons.
Seen quite a few of these posts around and decided to jump on the bandwagon. Ironically, I still haven’t done the Best & Worst of 2018, which I think is a lost cause at this point. Anyway, let’s focus on 2019. I’m only mentioning movies that have been released this year. Luckily there haven’t been a lot of misses this year so far because it’s been mostly mediocre instead. Anyway, here are my worst and best movies of 2019 so far.
We are almost half way through 2019 and, to be honest, besides Endgame and an Estonian film, the movies have been a little underwhelming. At least the ones I’ve seen, which is not many, less than 20. Shazam wasn’t bad either but like I said, nothing but the two I mentioned have blown me away. Which is why I’m looking forward to these five movies and hoping that all of them will blow me away!
Have you guys heard of Black Nights Film Festival? No? Well, it’s one of 15 A-category film festivals in the world and one of the biggest in the North-Europe. It’s also held in Tallinn, Estonia where I happen to live! This year it was held from the 16th of November to the 2nd of December, every day. There were over 200 feature films and over 300 shorts and animations. This year I was also lucky enough to receive a VIP pass to the festival. I saw 9 films (I just couldn’t manage more with my work), and here are my Top 5 films I saw during the festival.
