No you are not losing your mind, it really isn’t Thursday.. I’m just very late. This week was weird and I just didn’t have the time to write up the post. Worst book to movie adaptations have been on my mind all week though so I figured I’ll post a bit later. It’s the first time I’m so late to post my Thursday Movie Picks but I didn’t want to make it my first ever skip in years either. Anyway, here are my picks for worst book to movie adaptations. And as always, I’ve added my little twist and made it a theme within a theme.
Can’t believe it’s already June!? I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything this year and most of it is already over. Anyway, at least I have been keeping up with my Thursday posts which are back with the Oscar Winners Edition special. This week we are looking into Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplays. Now you know me, I like to pick a theme within the theme, so I right away wanted to pick one of them as the main focus. Also it’s getting a little late here so I won’t be saying much about the movies this week.
Bringing you some globetrotting television shows this week. The idea is that the show is scripted, so non-reality, non-travel and non-docu series. Limiting it to scripted did out a wall up for me but I think we got there in the end. Also, how is it at the end of May already? Gosh. It feels like just yesterday it was April and now we’re almost in June. I wanna say time flies but at the same time I have done nothing so… it feels more like it’s passing by and I’m just unaware of it. Anyway, on to my globetrotting picks.
As a fan of sci-fi movies I have seen a fair number of cyberpunk movies as well. I did have to check the meaning a little because I did get a tiny bit confused. For those who are also confused, cyberpunk is a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology. Basically a lot of movies under the sci-fi umbrella. Anyway as per usual I stuck with a theme within a theme with this one AND watched two movies for this week for the first time.
I feel like this is a theme that I won’t do well with. The thing is I don’t necessarily like period dramas. There are a few that I do enjoy, one of them being my all time favourite but I don’t necessarily turn to them. We’ve had this genre in different formats over the years, horror themed as well as television themed so I should be alright. Though confessing right away that I don’t remember two of my period dramas at all. I’m sorry about that!
Another month and another Oscar edition is coming your way. This week I wanted to pick movies and Best Director winners that I like. But also I wanted wins that have a bigger importance so these are all historic moments. Two of them happened just recently and one sparked an interesting streak of wins. Anyway let’s get started.
So tired I’m not even show how to function. Therefore I figured I was going for a title and Youtube video only this week but then I remembered, I actually have made a post similar to this theme TV Score and/or Theme Song. So if this sounds familiar, it’s because I copy-pasted my 2020 post called Top 5 TV-Show Theme Songs That I’m Currently Obsessed With. This list still counts because I like all these songs still. Anyway, these are theme songs I liked a year ago and still do. (Thank god, I didn’t have the brain power to think of anything new to say this week…)
It feels like the only way I can tell the difference between weeks is thanks to Thursday Movie Picks. Days fall into one and the stress of the entire year and a month on top is truly getting to me now. Work is not easy at the moment either which is just an added stress on top. BUT that is not what we are talking about today, we are talking about psychological Thrillers! I for one am not the biggest fan of these movies but when one clicks I love it a lot. Psychological thriller isn’t just something I look out for on purpose though. Anyway, I thought of this theme and I figured I’d pick three movies without even looking at Google for help. So if they don’t really fit the theme… blame the stress. I’m sure it’s at fault somehow.
Not necessarily leaving it to the last minute but sort of. (I really need to start planning these things ahead of time). So I was a bit stumped by this theme this week because honestly, I’m not very sure how many amateur sleuths movies I know. Probably more that I can think of but apparently not enough to conjure a proper list. Because of this today’s list will be about bad amateur sleuths movies. In other words I’m recommending you stay away from these amateur sleuths if possible. Needless to say all the main characters are amateur sleuthing.
The titles for these Thursday Movie Picks seem to get longer and longer but I’m not really complaining. It’s just a little ironic. Ironic because yet again I’m only going to talk about two performances. One for Best Supporting Actor and one for Best Supporting Actress. Both these wins are pretty recent so I can easily talk about them. As per usual I left my post writing to the very last minute (add some work scheduling mishap on top of that) and it’s an hour until deadline. I guess I just like to live on the edge.
