I can’t remember how many roles I’ve seen Colin Firth in but the first ones that come to mind are George Falconer (A Single Man) and Mr. Darcy (Bridget Jones’s Diary): he was brilliant in both of them. It was disappointing that his A Single Man Academy Award nomination didn’t earn him an Oscar but this might change. Since he is so good and deserves the golden boy in his office he is giving it another go with The King’s Speech.
The reason why I say this is not just based on the trailer and my personal opinion, I just think that a 9,0 rating in IMDb and 100% in Rotten Tomatoes speaks for itself! Plus, the movie is historical and the director Tom Hooper has an Emmy under his belt – I think that this is a recipe for the win. At least it should be…
And no, I haven’t seen the movie yet but the trailer is so promising and I don’t think Colin can do wrong. I can’t remember seeing him in a bad movie and lately he seems to get amazing roles. So I for an example can’t wait to see this one – I love myself some Colin as a king!
