Couple of weeks ago I finally watched the movie that I actually really wanted to see. Not because of the movie but mostly due to the fact that it is based on a real story. Bethany Hamilton (played by AnnaSophia Robb) is a pro-surfer who is missing her left arm. That’s right – she lost her arm in a shark attack when she was 13 but she loved surfing (mostly because of her family who is portrayed in this movie by Hollywood veterans Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid) and got back on the board almost right away. The movie portrays her before the accident and her overcoming the fact that she has only one arm.

I read about her before I saw the movie and I was happy that the movie didn’t change much. It had a lot of self strength in it and it wasn’t over clouded with God concept which was still important though. Over all it is a pretty decent movie, something inspirational more than entertaining and as a person who loves water – surfing seems awesome.

I’m not gonna rate this movie, I think it is unfair in these circumstances but I’ll say this – it had its moments and it had its effects and what else does a movie which is basically a documentary need. If you want to read more about Bethany Hamilton then go here.
