Hall Pass was again one of those comedies that I didn’t think much about and I was just looking for a good laugh. The common effect of those movies is just a simple entertainment for the night and nothing else. Although this movie was directed by the same guys who brought to us the forever in our DVD collection (probably) There’s Something About Mary, Hall Pass falls short of its fast and heartwarming humor that is also very much obscene. Yes, Hall Pass has its moments and its heartwarming story behind it, but I still feel that there is something missing and I can’t really put my finger on it.
The movie that stars two awesome actors that I actually like a lot, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, two married guys who feel like they are sinking into the typical married life – enter the wives: Jenna Fischer and Christina Appelgate who give them a hall pass. This means they get a week off from marriage to do what ever they want to, mostly other women (at least in their head). This is the whole plot, two guys enjoying a week of fun under the eyes of their friends (every comedy has some sort of a wolf pack in its core).
IMDb gives this a 6.0 score, which just means that this is an average comedy, not good but not down the toilet bad either – I’d give it a 2,5 out of 5 and mostly because I really like the cast. I think Owen is adorable and Jason as well, Christina is usually my favorite in anything she does. The movie itself is totally medium, nothing special, nothing over the top “I wanna see that again”, so I think that it’s a good company when you’re home alone and there’s nothing on TV making this another average review of a comedy that doesn’t really say much because there’s nothing much to say.
