Remember The Shawshank Redemption? Well you should, it’s only like the number one best movie of all times in IMDb Top 250 movies. Anyway, if you do remember and if you liked it, you’ll probably gonna like The Walking Dead – or maybe not, cause it came as a total surprise to me that the same writer (based on the short story by Stephen King)/director of Shawshank Frank Darabont is doing the newest mini-series (I have heard about) The Walking Dead. (He also wrote the screenplay based on King’s other novel, The Green Mile and directed it). The Walking Dead is based on a comic book series of the same name.

The first season ended on December 5th and a couple of days after that I watched the whole season from start to finish – was it exciting and scary, a little bit. Were the visuals good – no, I thought they were amazing – just alone the headshots, just wow.

I like how people are making TV-shows with so much passion and attention to detail and artistic and sarcastic nowadays, True Blood is like that (Glee is good with making fun of Glee itself which is a fresh take on humor) and my two favorites Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries – TV-shows are getting better and better.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse; it follows a small group of survivors, traveling across the desolate United States in search of a new home away from the shuffling hordes of the undead. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a sheriff’s deputy in King County, Georgia, before the zombie outbreak. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group’s desperation to survive pushes them to the very edge of sanity. At every turn they are faced with unspeakable horrors, both from the undead and the scattered remains of a struggling human populace. [Wikipedia]

Rick played by Andrew Lincoln (he is English by the way and the guy who was in love with his best friends wife in Love Actually), wakes up in the hospidal all alone with dead people and dead-alive people all around. He of course is surprised by this but since he was around when this walking-dead-people thing got started, he knows something about it. He is also married and wants to find his family, Sarah Wayne Callies (from Prison Break) plays his wife and Jon Bernthal (maybe you remember him from the canceled show Eastwick) is his best friend and also a cop. Anyway, without giving a lot of the plot away I’d just say that it has a bit of that dark humor, some really thrilling scenes, some shocking moments, some scares (I watched it at 4 in the morning mostly, so I pretty much was scared just because I was alone and in the dark – plus I get scared easily) and nice special effects when they kill the dead-who-are-walking-around-and-are-called-zombies – maybe you’ll like it maybe you won’t, but you’ll never know until you watch it.

But Wikipedia says that: The pilot received 5.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere episode of any AMC television series.[31] The first season finale received 6 million viewers, a series high; with 4 million viewers in the 18–49 demographic, making it the most watched basic cable series for the demographic.[32]

So I might think that 6 million people aren’t watching it because there is nothing else on TV… so just watch it. Here are some stills from the show’s first season to get you excited and the poster of the show which I really like.
